The other day, Joe and I sat down to organize our calendars for 2018. We are notorious for accidentally double booking ourselves, so we made an intention to write down everything we knew we had coming up this year. Twenty minutes and a couple of margaritas later and both of our heads were spinning with all that we already have on our 2018 travel list! 2017 was a crazy year of travel, but it really feels like we are kicking it up a notch this year and neither of us could be any more excited for all of the adventures ahead of us. I think that’s what this crazy lifestyle we live is all about!
So, since there are so many places to go and so little time, I wanted to ask you all, have you been to any of these places and do you have any super awesome recommendations of things we need to do/see/eat/drink when we visit? Any and all recommendations are welcome because it appears that our planning work is cut out for us this year! Also, I really hope that this post gives you a little bit of wanderlust inspiration for your own travels!
Reinforcing my position as the official luckiest girl in the world, Joe gifted me a trip to the Maldives (PINCH ME!) for Christmas. We will be staying on Rangali Island and the trip will be doubling as a celebration for the six-year anniversary of Joe successfully running his business! We’re planning a little bit of scuba and lotta bit of laying on the white sand beaches with drinks in hand!
After the Maldives, we’re going to spend a week in Dubai to break up that gruelingly long trip home to Texas (16 hours!). I see a desert safari in our future?
San Diego, CA
Some sweet friends of ours (shoutout, Camden and Abby!) are getting married in La Jolla. We are still game planning a side activity to spend a couple of days doing after the wedding. We were thinking about going back to Valle de Guadalupe and staying in our world-famous bubble hotel, but would love any suggestions of other fun things to close to the area!
Palm Springs, CA
This has long been a favorite spring break destination for my family. The early-March warmth in the desert and perfect balance between active activities and poolside relaxation make it the perfect getaway location!
We’re going to make the trip back to Joe’s hometown to cheer on our TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 Basketball Championship. I’m super excited for this trip for two reasons: 1) I love the parts of Kansas City that Joe has already taken me to explore (mainly Country Club Plaza and Overland Park) and 2) I am excited to see a little bit of Downtown and the Power & Light District!
Switzerland has always been a country I’ve admired from afar, so I can’t wait to finally get a chance to explore it in real life! I thought Geneva looked like a gorgeous city when I saw it on an episode of The Bachelorette (don’t judge me), plus anywhere that is famous for tasty chocolate and luxury watches can’t be bad, right?!
We’re taking our annual summer visit to visit family! This time our main mission is to do LOTS of exploring of whisky distilleries. It’s for the blog, ok?! 😉
Have I mentioned how much we love the wine countries of the world? A million times? Oh, ok! Plus, the idea of enjoying our favorite fruit juice surrounded by French charm everywhere is what dreams are made of!
Joe and I are trying to make it our goal to visit Paris in every season. So far, we checked the box for winter when we visited at New Year last year. In 2018, we’re going to check out the City of Lights in the Fall. As golf nerds, we’re making the trip to see the Ryder Cup (U-S-A, U-S-A!) with my parents and friends. My mouth is already watering thinking about the endless plates of escargot we will be ordering!
Another year, another marathon for Joe! This one will be extra special to him since it is the marathon his mom grew up running. Guaranteed that I leave Chicago about ten pounds heavier than when I arrive, just like the last time we visited! Guys, the food there is unreal! I promise a post one of these days about the best places to eat there.
Pin now for later!
